Childbirth--Preparing for the Miracle   See a preview

I never thought I would write a book about childbirth. I didn’t plan on doing it.  But, through the years, I heard so many new mothers sharing awful stories of birth.    So many women have had horrible birth experiences.  Many have had just plain uninspiring birthing experiences.  Nearly every woman I have talked to has a negative outlook about the birthing process.  Because of this, I wished that they had discovered some things that I had discovered along the way.  I have had numerous people ask me how I can stand to have babies without medical intervention in the form of drugs.  I have also had people tell me how I am so “brave” to have had most of my children at home. I am neither extremely pain tolerant nor particularly brave.  So, that is where this book came into being.  I offer a very simple outlook on how your body works during labor and delivery, advice that really works on what to do mentally to prepare beforehand and during labor, and how to make the overall birth experience a spiritual one.  Included in the book are personal accounts of the births of each of my children.

Here are some excerpts from the book:

There is a "widespread notion about birth that displays birth as a horrid, painful experience that we must endure in martyr-like fashion.  In this book, the focus is on thinking in terms of hard work, concentration and spirituality in the miracle of birth.

Birth, the taking part in a new life coming to earth, is a wondrous and beautiful event.  .......

What can you do to prepare for a wonderful, spiritual, uplifting birth experience?  Most of us know that a new baby comes straight from God.  I believe that God can help prepare you for your new little miracle better than anyone else.

It is my intention to offer some suggestions which have helped me in many aspects of the pregnancy and births of my many children.    I would like to share with you what I have learned, through my experiences, about physical health, mental preparation and spiritual preparation for birth...

I am hoping that by sharing my experiences that I can help others find, with God’s help, the best way for their family.  Certainly everyone won’t want to do things the same way I do, nor do I expect it.  I simply am giving these things as ideas for others to consider.  Hopefully those who read these words will find some truths they can use....."
